Monday madness for final Open spots

Golf’s version of “Mad Monday” also known as the Pre-qualifying rounds of the 2015 Emirates Australian Open Championship are being held today.

A number of established professional and amateurs stars are set to run the 18 hole gauntlet at three Sydney Courses for one of eight  spots in the Championship, which begins Thursday.

Notable names facing the Monday test incude NSW Amateur Daniel Gale and Professional Samuel Phillips. They tee off at Carnavon Golf Club at 8.00am.

Also at Carnavon will be Lucas Herbert, who recently turned Professional. He will be playing for his spot at 9.39am, while 2011 NSW Open Champion and Web.com member Adam Crawford will be teeing off from the 10th at 8.09am.

Gun West Australian Amateur Curtis Luck is in the last group at Carnavon playing from the 10th tee at 9.30am.

Former Australasian PGA Tour winner Ewan Porter tries his luck at Liverpool Golf Club, teeing off 8.54am, while Andrew Evans, fresh from his heroics at the Australian Masters at Huntingdale over the last four days is playing from the first tee at 9.21am. Rookie Professional Antonio Murdaca, just back from the final stage of European Tour School is playing from the 10th tee at 8.00am.

Federal Amateur winner Austin Bautista will lead the field away at 8.00am from the 10th tee at Ryde Parramatta, alongside Professional Mark Brooker.

The final makeup of the Championship should be decided by early afternoon.
