Moreton District victorious at Inter-Association

The Moreton District has won the Queensland Men’s Inter-Association Teams Event at Rockhampton Golf Club with a gross scored of 368.

The team was represented by Adam Gemmell, Chris Fraser, Martin Manning and Ben Daniels. Gemmell and Fraser set the tone for the victory with an equal best round of 67 in the Monday morning Fourball, and best Foursomes round of 72 in the afternoon.

The Gold Coast District, consisting of Liam Anderson, Peter Lyon, Jay Borra and Bailey Knoll, finished eventual runners-up a further shot back. The GCD also claimed honours as nett champions on 375, closely followed by the Far North Queensland on 376.5 for second.

Scott Warren and Peter Lyon shared the best singles round with a 1-over par 73 on Tuesday.

Mick Gidley achieved every golfer’s dream with a hole-in-one. Playing the second hole of the tournament, and coming off an opening 8, Gidley’s perfect iron was a highlight for the NQ East team.

Golf Central Queensland and Rockhampton Golf Club hosted a great edition of the Men’s Inter Association and should be applauded for the condition of the course and hospitality shown to all visiting Districts.

The Inter-Association Championship is a team’s event with each District being represented by four players. The total team score is determined by adding the best team score in the Foursomes event, the best team score in the Four-Ball stroke event and the best 3 of the 4 player's scores in the individual stroke event.
