Mornington Peninsula Senior Amateur

The Mornington Peninsula Senior Amateur Championship was held last week at Flinders and Portsea Golf Club, it what was to say the least, perfect playing conditions. A strong field turned out at the event, all hopeful to be crowned the first The Mornington Peninsula Senior Amateur Champion. The first round saw excellent scoring at Flinders Golf Club with Trevor Wood and Peter Bence tied for the lead after shooting rounds of 73. Four players were tied 2nd with 74, including the Alpine Senior Masters Champion Pat Giles and Portsea member Wayne Berger.

The second round at Portsea Golf Club tested the players in slightly blustery conditions. First round leader Trevor Wood shot 82, while Robert Burford, along with Wayne Berger shot a brilliant 74. In the end Devil Bend member Robert Burford finished second with 146, while Wayne Berger finished on 144 to be 2 shots clear and crowned the first Mornington Peninsula Senior Amateur Champion.
