Mum and daughter in pennant matchup

Bragging rights are on the line for the Lasky family in this Sunday’s Srixon Metropolitan Women’s Pennant Division 1 semi-final match between The Australian and The Lakes.

Karen Lasky will be lining up for her home club, The Lakes, while her daughter Jessica will be on the other side of the ledger, lining up for her home club, The Australian.

“I’ve been trying to be pretty chilled about it all really,” says Jess. “I hope we get up; it would be a great achievement to beat mum.”

Karen is looking forward to the match, but as a mother she’s also hoping the experience is enjoyable for both of them.

“It’s exciting. She’s 19 and didn’t play much golf last year because she was studying for her HSC, so as a mum it’s wonderful thing to look forward to.”

There’s been a bit of gentle banter about their respective teams’ match strategy at home all week, with neither one giving too much away about team selection.

“No one is giving up anything – It’s all been fun at home,” says Karen.

There’s also the issue of who husband and father David will be cheering for on Sunday.

“It’s going to be interesting to see who Dad cheers for out there. Either way he’s going to have to put up with one of us having bragging rights next week, definitely,” laughs Jess.

NSW Golf Club and Concord will contest the other Division 1 semi-final which will tee off at 7.00am Sunday on the Bungool course at Riverside Oaks Golf Resort. The Australian versus The Lakes semi-final will follow, beginning at 7.45am.

In Division 2, Castle Hill and Ryde-Parramatta will face-off for a spot in the final at beginning at 8.30, with North Ryde and Stonecutters Ridge contesting the remaining semi final from 9.15am Sunday.
