Murdaca keeps cool in his match against Kalms After defeating New Zealand s Ryan Chisnall 1up in the first round of the Australian Amateur Championship Match Play, SA s Anthony Murdaca defeated Victorian Thomas Power-Horan 3&1 in round two, before encountering Queenslander Joshua Kalms in this afternoon s third round. After being 1 down through 14, Murdaca pegged back the deficit to see both players square heading down the 18th. After both found the middle of the fairway, with long drives, Kalms found the front greenside bunker, while Murdaca hit a majestic iron from 220metres to find the green. Kalms failed to get up and down, while Murdaca two-putted, to claim a 1 up victory and a place in the quarter finals against Cameron Davis from NSW teeing off at 8.10am Saturday 18 January. In round 2 of the Women’s Match Play, Cassidy Evreniadis from The Grange, battled hard against 6th qualifier Shelly Shin (NSW), but went 1 down. Jenny Lee from Glenelg is the only South Australian women remaining, after defeating Charlotte Thomas from Singapore in a tight match 2&1. Lee faces 3rd ranked Australian Su-Hyun Oh from Victoria, in a quarter final match teeing off at 7.50am Saturday 18 January.
