Adam Murdock from Warooka Golf Club has taken out the 2017 South Australian Sand Greens Championship by one stroke ahead of 2013 champion Ryan Wheeler from Kadina.
The Championship partnered by MGA Insurance Brokers, was played at the Warooka Golf Club on the Yorke Peninsula and attracted a strong field of 102 players competing across the 12-13 August weekend.
The Warooka course was presented fantastically well and the players were blessed with perfect weather conditions over the weekend. Over half the field, some 56 players were from clubs in the Yorke Peninsula District, so credit goes to the YP and host club for garnering local support and assisting Golf SA with promoting the event.
In the A-Grade, Murdock who won at Cleve in 2015 posted an opening round 2-over 71 to lead Jackson Arthur from Kadina and Jarred Dalton from Edithburgh by one stroke after 18 holes.
In the second round, despite a late charge by Ryan Wheeler who fired an even par 69 for the low round of the day, Murdock was rock solid posting another round of 71 for the Championship win
