Ballan Golf Club, in Victoria’s Central Highlands, is the winner of this month’s MyGolf Centre of the Month award.
Ballan became a registered MyGolf Centre in August with the hope of attracting new junior members and to build exposure within the local community.
“The future of the club relies upon the next generation of golfers, so adopting MyGolf was a no-brainer,” Ballan MyGolf coordinator John McLeod said.
With the help of Tony Collier, regional development officer at Golf Victoria, the club’s first MyGolf program is almost finished, but has proven to be a hit around the local schools.
A staggering 58 participants registered into the MyGolf program at Ballan, a number the club didn’t expect to achieve in its very first program – and a fantastic result!
“Many parents have commented that they didn’t know there was a golf club in Ballan,” McLeod said.
“Our beautiful golf course is now far better known amongst the local community since launching the MyGolf program, which is exactly what we hoped for.”
One of the key aspects of Ballan’s MyGolf program is putting on a sausage sizzle after each session with the club incredibly fortunate to receive a grant from the local council that allows them to do so.
“The juniors love the sausage sizzle and I have heard positive comments from the parents about meeting new parents and socialising with them,” McLeod said.
Ballan will continue to run MyGolf programs in the future. The club has carefully thought about the best way to retain its MyGolf participants and will look to offer a five-hole competition at the end of the MyGolf program for the participants, as well as a parent and child membership and a subsidised junior membership.
Congratulations to John and his team at Ballan Golf Club on running their first MyGolf program.
The MyGolf Team looks forward to seeing your success continue.
