Winchelsea Golf Club, west of Geelong, is the winner of this month’s MyGolf Centre of the Month award.
Winchelsea became a registered MyGolf Centre in August and, with the help of Tony Collier, regional development officer at Golf Victoria, the club’s first MyGolf program is currently under way.
MyGolf co-ordinator Michael Hedger was thrilled with the number of registrations the centre received from for its Term 3 program.
“We were overwhelmed with the response to our program,” Hedger said.
“We certainly didn’t expect to get 32 registrations, but we will quite happily take it.”
Winchelsea Primary School and Moriac Primary School have been very supportive of the Winchelsea MyGolf program. A large percentage of the MyGolf participants who have enrolled attend the nearby schools.
Once their first MyGolf program is completed, Michael and his team will look at giving the MyGolf participants a three-month summer pass to Winchelsea Golf Club, on the Deans Marsh Road en route to nearby Lorne.
The pass will run from November to January and will give the participants and their families access to the course so they can continue playing golf and developing their skills.
Who knows? Winchelsea Golf Club might see a few new members after the summer as a result.
Once they have completed their first program, Michael and his team will assess how the program went and look to plan future MyGolf programs and school holiday programs for juniors, primary schools students and possibly even secondary school students.
“Winchelsea has been really proactive in getting their MyGolf co-ordinator and additional deliverer qualified to deliver the program,” Collier said.
“They are certainly heading in the right direction in terms of growth for the club.”
Congratulations to Michael and his team Winchelsea Golf Club on running their first MyGolf program.
We look forward to seeing your success continue.
