MyGolf Sporting Schools Program
MyGolf is Golf Australia and the PGA of Australia’s national junior introductory program to develop and promote participation in golf. Through the MyGolf Sporting Schools program, we aim to introduce children to the game of Golf through fun, engaging and challenging games and activities that are easily suited and adapted for a range of age groups and skill levels.
The MyGolf Sporting Schools Program is a recommended 4 week in school program with an optional 5th week at a local Golf club/facility to further enhance the children’s experience. This can be arranged by the school, the program coach, local club or State/Territory Golf Association or Junior Foundation.
The program can be delivered by accredited PGA of Australia Golf Professionals, Community Instructors or a Teacher from within the school. Golf Australia and the PGA offer an online training module specifically for teachers or coaches delivering School program Golf in schools. When selecting to the deliver a MyGolf Sporting Schools program schools will receive funding to cover all or some of the following:
- MyGolf School Golf Kit (includes: 10 x 7-Irons, 10 x Putters, 50 x PVC golf balls, 10 x hitting mats, 10 x Putting targets)
- Coach Delivery Costs
- School Supervision Costs
- Teacher Online Training Costs
- Transport to Local Club (when applicable)
Roles and Responsibilities for the MyGolf Sporting Schools Program
School
- Maximum of 30 kids per session
- Delivered by an accredited coach or trained teacher
- Active supervision must be provided for programs delivered by external coaches
- Provide coach access to appropriate area for delivery i.e. school oval and school gym or undercover area
- Order MyGolf School Golf Kit from MyGolf Shop and ensure it is available for use for all sessions
- Provide additional sports equipment and resources for sessions as required
Coaches
- Register your interest to coach with State/Territory Assoication or Junior Foundation
- Hold current Community Golf Instructor or PGA Member accreditation and valid Working With Children Check (WWCC)
- Provide evidence of WWCC to State/Territory Association or Junior Foundation
- Communicate directly with relevant State/Territory Association or Junior Foundation Representative to discuss coaching opportunities (info below)
- Deliver a fun, safe and engaging MyGolf Sporting Schools program by following the resources provided
- Report any issues with the program directly to State/Territory Association or Junior Foundation representative
- Invoice the school directly at the completion of the program
