MyGolfer of the month: July 2015

The MyGolf Team congratulates July MyGolfer of the Month, Queenslander Ryan McCarthy.

Ryan actively participates in the MyGolf program at Townsville Golf Club and has progressed to the Master level and is already playing six and nine-hole competitions at age seven.

“Ryan is a quiet and well behaved young golfer who pays strong attention to detail and the technical aspects of the golf swing,” his MyGolf coordinator Mitch Bligh said.

“He is extremely dedicated and well liked by his peers.”

Ryan recently attended a three-day MyGolf camp at Ayr Golf Club (home to champion Karrie Webb) with his brothers Lachlan and Max McCarthy.

PGA Professionals Lee Harrington, Scott Simons and Josh Tindale conducted the camp, which comprised two days of clinics, drills and games culminating in a pennant style match on the last day with Ayr taking on the rest of North Queensland.

During a critical time of the match play, Ryan managed to score a HOLE IN ONE on the 15th. His astonishing achievement not only saw him with the nearest the pin award, but helped his team turn the match around.

Congratulations Ryan on achieving your first hole in one. Your MyGolf coordinator was equally as proud to hear of your career highlight.

“I have no doubt that Ryan will develop into a fantastic golfer,” Bligh said.

Nominations for the August MyGolfer of the Month Award must be sent to mygolf@golf.org.au by 5.00pm on Monday, August 24.
