Nagayo and Weaver Win at Metropolitan

A bumper field of juniors assembled this afternoon at the Metropolitan Golf Club in very hot conditions. The 102-strong field battled the heat on a course which was in pristine condition.

Alessandra Nagayo from Southern Golf Club claimed the overall girls title shooting a brilliant 72 with four birdies to finish one under par in the tough conditions. Nagayo was the runaway leader in the girl’s section winning by six shots from Jazy Roberts.

In the boy’s section it was Harrison Weaver of Medway who secured the win with a very steady 71 to finish even par. It was a closer affair in the boy’s as Weaver won by only two shots over both Benjamin Steven and Lazim Medini. Both locked on 73, Steven won the overall runners up prize on a countback.

Weaver’s score was also enough to win Division A as he finished four stokes under his handicap. The Division A runner up was Max Sivell (Keysborough) and third place went to Lazim Medini (Southern).

Box Hill’s Eric Li also finished four shots below his handicap to claim the Division B title. Li was just good enough to beat runner up Toby Hynes (Rossdale) who finished only one shot behind. One shot further back was Taegan Dodds (Sanctuary Lakes) who claimed third place in a countback over Nathan Anderson (Mornington).

In Division C it was Aaron Hosking (Cerebus) who separated himself from the pack to score 38 stableford points and finish two points clear of four players tied on 36. In a countback Lucas Jackson (Victoria) claimed second place whilst Levi Perkins (Lang Lang) finished third.
