By Alistair Hogg Aussie amateurs Emma Bennett and Sarah Oh have started the ANZ Ladies Masters strongly with sub-par rounds at Royal Pines Resort, Queensland. Frances Bondad and Kate Combes also performed well and are not far off the pace. Bennett&aposs superb round of three-under was sandwiched by birdies at one and 18 as well as another on the eighth as the 22-year old managed to avoid bogeys. Consistency was the name of the game for the National Squad member who will be looking for another solid tournament after making the cut at last week&aposs MFS Women&aposs Australian Open in Sydney. Oh also had a good week at Royal Sydney and started strongly on the Gold Coast with an opening round of two-under. The 18-year old was consistent throughout with her only blemish coming on the par five 15th, however this was offset by birdies either side on 14 and 16. Kate Combes was up and down the leader board all morning as the Victorian amateur struggled to find her rhythm. The 21-year old only managed to find nine pars, but was able to offset bogeys with birdies to finish at one-over. Frances Bondad also finished at one-over after shooting a 73. The 19-year old hit from the tenth tee and started strongly with back-to-back birdies at 15 and 16. However things turned sour for the amateur when she had three consecutive birdies between five and seven before salvaging a birdie on the ninth to card a one-over par opening round. Golf Australia National Squad scores after the first round of the ANZ Ladies Masters at Royal Pines Resort (par 72): -3: Emma Bennett -2: Sarah Oh, +1: Frances Bondad, Kate Combes
