National Squad hope for luck of the Irish

Irish Ladies Stroke Play Championship website After the St Rule Trophy at St Andrews, the travelling squad of Stacey Keating (VIC), Justine Lee (NSW), Ashley Ona (QLD) and Jessica Speechley (WA) now head to Dublin for the Irish Ladies Stroke Play Championship at Newlands Golf Club. The Course was designed by the famous James Braid, the first golfer to win the British Open Championship five times. Amongst his other notable creations were the King&aposs and Queen&aposs Course at Gleneagles, Carnoustie and Dalmahoy. The 2010 championship takes place on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th June. In last year s event, Ireland&aposs Lisa Maguire beat England s Hannah Burke at the 7th play-off hole. Maguire will be unable to defend her title, as she and her sister Leona were selected on the Curtis Cup team to play the USA in Massachusetts on 14-15 June. However, Keating will be hoping to again take the title following her victory in 2008. A strong field will see 71 competitors play 36 holes stroke play on Saturday with the top 40 playing a final 18 holes on Sunday.
