Round of 64

National Squad members Minjee Lee and Su Hyun Oh have both qualified for the Match Play section of the US Girls' Junior Championship at Lake Merced Golf Club near San Franscisco.

Lee, from Royal Fremantle, carded rounds of 79-71 to qualify while Oh finished with rounds of 78-72. The pair were tied in 11th place.

Defending champion Ariya Jutanugarn took stroke-play medalist honors for the second consecutive year on Tuesday, carding a 36-hole total of 2-under 145 and setting the stage for a staunch title defense at the 6,291-yard, par-72 Lake Merced Golf Club.

Sitting three strokes back is New Zealand’s Ko, the top amateur in the Women’s World Amateur Golf Ranking. Ko, the low amateur at the U.S. Women’s Open nine days ago, had her hands full early, opening with double bogey-bogey on the inward nine. However, a 30-foot birdie putt at the par-3 12th, her first of the championship, came at just the right time.

“The first couple of holes, my drives were going everywhere,” said the 15-year-old Ko, who earlier this year won the 2012 New South Wales Open, a professional event, and the Australian Amateur. “But then on 12 I had my first birdie of the tournament and on 13 I had a good drive down there, so I think I got my confidence back."
