Hannah Green will be nervous as she plays against the men in the Nexus Risk TSA Group WA Open at Royal Perth this week, coming off her great year in the United States. But no more nervous than her partner, Jarryd Felton, who is borderline petrified of losing to her!
Felton, 22, has had a good year highlighted by a win at the New Zealand PGA Championships, but he honestly believes that Green will be highly competitive at Royal Perth this week.
“I’m very nervous don’t worry!” he told Golf Australia's Inside The Ropes podcast. “I’m legitimately nervous. Royal Perth isn’t long but it is quite tight and obviously Hannah hits it straight and I may hit a few offline.”
Green, 20, won three times on the Symetra Tour in America this year, securing her card to play on the main LPGA Tour from 2018, and while she has had precious little time to settle back into Perth, but Felton believes Royal Perth will favor her precision play.
“I know Hannah played around Royal Freo (at the 2015 WA Open) which is a little bit longer and she struggled a bit with the length there, but I don’t think she’s struggle at all around Royal Perth with the length,'' he said.
The WA Open boasts a strong field, including defending champion Curtis Luck, Super Sixes champion Brett Rumford and last year's Emirates Australian Open runner-up Ash Hall.
It tees off on Thursday.
