Ms Sally Kirkright and Mr Michael Medway were declared elected at the Annual General Meeting of Golf NSW which was held on Tuesday, 28 November at Royal Sydney Golf Club.
Ms Kirkright is the Chief Executive Officer of Access EAP and was formerly the State General Manager, Regional Banking, Tasmania, with the Westpac Banking Corporation. She has a Bachelor of Business (Hons), a Diploma of Financial Planning and has recently completed a Graduate Diploma in Psychology.
In her current role as the CEO of AccessEAP, Ms. Kirkright has experience in providing psychological support services to improve mental health and well-being in the workplace.
“I am very passionate about women’s golf and what we can do to encourage more women into the sport, particularly business women, like myself.
“I am also aware of the importance of young people in the sport. In my day job, I see a lot of challenges with young people and connectedness because of technology.It is important for everyone’s mental health to get out onto the golf course, connecting with other people, playing a great sport and enjoying the environment,” Ms Kirkright said.
Ms Kirkright has been an avid golfer for over 15 years, initially as a member of a Women’s Golf Social group in Victoria. She has been a member of both Tasmania and Royal Hobart Golf Clubs, and she became a member of Kogarah Golf Club in 2004. She lists winning the occasional monthly medal and a few Golf NSW women’s events as some of her proudest sporting achievements.
Mr Michael Medway is a Technology Consultant for a large international company that provides software solutions for organisations in the financial services and insurance industries. He holds a Bachelor of Business, a Bachelor of Laws and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Corporate Governance. He is a Chartered Company Secretary and holds membership of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
“As a director of Golf NSW, I want to help execute and deliver on the strategic plan, but I also want to be available to support member clubs and their boards to grow the game. Their membership and profitability as also a focus of the strategic plan,” Mr. Medway said.
“I want to make available my experience in technology, business, law, and governance to help ensure that the game of golf in NSW continues to grow and that we can attract new participants to the game through varied approaches.
“Additionally, I want to ensure that we grow the game of golf for women in NSW so that the game has a greater mix of participants. Golf would then be viewed as a sport in which the whole family can participate.”
Mr Medway is a member of Brighton Lakes Golf Club and has been involved in the game for over 33 years. He believes it teaches the necessary life skills of etiquette, conversation, respect of the Rules of the game, your fellow competitors and surrounds.
Mr Stuart Fraser, CEO of Golf NSW, welcomed the new board members.
“I would like to congratulate Ms Kirkright and Mr Medway on their election to the Board of Golf NSW. I look forward to working with them and the rest of the Board to deliver the best outcomes for our affiliated clubs and golfers across the State,” Mr Fraser said.
