The Committee and members of Harrington Waters Golf Club are pleased to announce they have entered into an agreement with Roche Group (owners of the facility) to manage The Harrington Waters Golf course and club house facilities.
After extensive talks between the committee, Roche Group and after much number crunching, agreement was reached in early April for the Committee to take over the management of the facility on behalf of the members.
This required a Special General Meeting to be called and notice was given for this to take place on the 20th April 2015. The following Mission Stament was issued to members along with our Business plan 21 days prior to the meeting.
To provide and administer a long term facility for the enjoyment of golf to the benefit of the members of Harrington Waters Golf Club Inc and the wider Harrington Crowdy Head Community.
The response to the meeting was nothing short of phenominal with 108 of our 160 financial members attending (many bringing folding chairs). This along with 12 written apologies, shows the desire of the membership to be involved in this process. After almost an hour of questions to the committee from the membership in relation to the Managment Proposal, President Peter Budden called for a vote by show of hands. Votes to the affirmative were clearly to the fore and when the question 'against?' was put, not one single hand was raised.
As a result, the motion was passed and we thank Roche Group for the opportunity they have afforded us. Peter Budden also thanked his hard working committee but reminded everyone “our work has just begun.”
In the ensuing weeks Green staff have been employed and Mark Russell will lead his team of Stava and Mathew on the course while Greg Roulstone will be looking after the “golf shop” along with Peter Gibson. The Golf Shop will be open from 7am to 5pm seven days a week in Winter and 7am to 7pm in Summer.
CLUB
The “Golf House Café” will be open six days a week from 10am to 4pm (Closed Tuesdays). Ann Newman has returned supported by Nerelle and Sue and will be making scones and muffins on site for those seeking a nice morning or afternoon tea or light lunch.
We have a brand new fleet of eight hire carts arrived for the benefit of members and visiting golfers and are very keen to work with all the accommodation suppliers in the region on play and stay packages.
While it is early days for us, we look forward to working with the Lower North Coast Golf Association and fellow LNC Clubs as well as Golf NSW and Golf Australia and of course as well as providing a first class golf course for the members and the wider Harrington, Crowdy head community and visiting golfers.
