New tickets and proven initiatives set to make this summers Women’s Open sizzle!

Golf Australia has officially launched tickets sales for the 2007 MFS Women’s Australian Open, right in time for Christmas and confirmed that the event will expand the highly successful spectator initiatives introduced at the Men’sOpen in November. Adding to the experience of the 2007 MFS Australian Open is a pledge to extend the Go Zones for ticket holders, allowing spectators to get up, even closer with players. The 2007 MFS Women’s Australian Open also is set to adopt twilight viewing sessions, reserved grandstand seating and Autograph Zone after the success of these new initiatives at the 2006 MFS Australian Open. Never in Australia have golf tournaments taken this fresh approach to attracting new spectators to the sport by providing convenient access times for workers and school children. This will include Twilight Sessions after 4pm on Thursday and Friday and premium reserved grandstand seating on the 18th green on Saturday and Sunday, priced at $20 and $70, respectively. We want to take the MFS Women’s Australian Open to a new level by providing a range of ticket options for everyone. Golf fans need to know that they are getting great value for their money and we believe the twilight sessions reach a multitude of needs, especially in summer, said Paul McNamee, Executive Chairman Australian Opens, Golf Australia. On par with major international golf tournaments, the Grandstand seating will be in prime position, allowing the spectator to be right on top of the 18th hole experience as players take their final putt. Parents and children will also have the opportunity to get up close and personal with their favourite golfers, in the Autograph Zone and Kids Zone which proved very popular throughout the recent MFS Australian Open championship. Women’s golf has never looked better, with golden girl Karrie Webb, defending champion Laura Davies, European Tour rookie of the year, Nikki Garrett and glamour girl, Natalie Gulbis all competing, the new go zones are set to ignite the fairways. The 2007 MFS Women&aposs Australian Open marks the 16th time the Championship has been held and the first time it has been played at The Royal Sydney Golf Club. The tournament is held from February 1 – 4 and is co-sanctioned with the ALPG and Ladies European Tour. For the corporate who wishes to wine and dine clients or impress the work colleagues by overlooking the 18th hole, then the Championship Club hospitality package is ideal. This exclusive experience includes lunch, beverages, a private viewing balcony, TV monitors, door prizes and car parking passes. With new players confirmed, including Amy Yang (KOR), Nicole Garrett (AUS), Shani Waugh (AUS), Brittany Lincicome (USA) and Rachel Hetherington (AUS), the championship is building into a must see event. Tickets go on sale today at Ticketmaster outlets, call 1300 136 122 or visit ticketmaster.com.au. Golf Australia acknowledges the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) as the official charity of the 2007 MFS Women’s Australian Open and title sponsor partner MFS. Other sponsors recognised for their support include Peugeot, Fisher & Paykel, the New South Wales Major Events Board and The Royal Sydney Golf Club, as host for the 2007 MFS Women’s Australian Open.
