The Governing Board of the Rolex Women&aposs World Golf Rankings, met recently at the 2010 Evian Masters, in Evian-les-Bains, France.

The official women’s world golf rankings were developed at the May 2004 World Congress of Women’s Golf and subsequently launched in April, 2006 under the sanctioning of the five major women’s professional golf Tours: the LPGA; LET; LPGA of Japan; KLPGA and ALPG, as well as the LGU which administers the Ricoh Women’s British Open.  ALPG CEO Warren Sevil has been a member of both the Technical Committee and Governing Board since the discussions commenced.

During the Evian Masters gala dinner, hosted at the magnificent Royal Hotel Evian overlooking Lake Geneva, Rolex Rankings Board members were introduced and acknowledged by tournament organisers, Evian, and major sponsors, Rolex.  This marked the first time the Board had gathered in Evian for meetings which have traditionally been held during the week of the Women’s British Open Championship.

ALPG CEO Warren Sevil said the Evian Masters provided a wonderful venue change from the usual British Open atmosphere.   “Whilst we are confined to the four walls of meeting rooms for two days, the magnificence of the Evian Township and Lake Geneva, together with the hospitality extended to us by Evian and Rolex, made it a special week. This was my first trip to this popular tournament which hosted the leading 119 players from the major Tours and Rolex Rankings listing. The week also allowed me the opportunity to catch up with leading Aussie and international players and witness womens golf at its best at one of the most beautiful locations in the world. I am also very proud of the fact that Australian Ladies Professional Golf is respected as one of the five major women’s Tours. To have been acknowledged on the stage of one of our sports most significant events, was a very satisfying moment.

The Rolex Rankings Board meets biannually to review the system’s methodology and consider modifications to the process for calculating the weekly rankings.
