ActewAGL is the proud sponsor of the ActewAGL Next Generation Club and the ActewAGL Next Generation Club Camp 2014 and 2015.

The ALPG’s Next Generation Clubis an initiative that was developed in 2012 by the ALPG that is aimed towards supporting female amateur golfers that aspire to be or are considering a career as a professional golfer or within in the golf industry. The Club provides education, advice, guidance and mentoring offered through the knowledge and experience of ALPG and it’s members.

Benefits of Membership

The benefits of NGC Membership include career guidance provided by current and retired touring professionals, including Shani Waugh and Rachel Hetherington, exclusive invitation to the ActewAGL NGC Camp and Pro-Am Event, placement in ALPG Tour Pro Am fields, and exposure to the ALPG programs.

In January 2014, the ALPG conducted its inaugural NGC Camp at Royal Canberra Golf Club. Twelve NGC Members attended the three-day event that was supervised by former LPGA stars Rachel Hetherington and Shani Waugh, along with ALPG board member Lee Harrington.

The camp days consisted of practical range and short game sessions with emphasis on preparation, planning and strategy, a Pro-Am format event, in which the girls played as the professionals in the field along with sponsors, guests and club members, and finally, and opportunity to caddy for ALPG members at an ALPG Tour Pro-Am. These players included Stacey Keating, LPGA veteran Nancy Harvey and multiple tournament winner Joanne Mills.

NGC members are also exposed to all avenues and career prospects available in women’s professional golf. This includes information on the PGA International Golf Institute, PGA traineeships, golf administration possibilities and assistance towards potential placement in the United States collegiate golf system. Lee Harrington, Karen Quinn and Kylie Pratt are just some of the ALPG mentors that are highly recognized in  the golf industry outside that of  the playing arena.

The ALPG and its members are very proud of the NGC and this is something that we would like to continue to grow in the future. Current ALPG mentors in the program include Shani Waugh, Jane Crafter, Rachel Hetherington, Lindsey Wright, Katherine Kirk and Nikki Campbell.

In addition to these globally recognized ALPG members, the NGC initiative is supported and endorsed by ALPG member and LPGA Half of Fame member, Karrie Webb.

“I am excited about this initiative which offers a unique opportunity for aspiring professional golfers. I am happy to be part of the team who will pass on our advice and our experiences to the Next Generation Club Members. For golfers who are considering a career as a tournament playing professional, it is important to plan ahead, seek the right advice and speak to those who have been down that road, in order to make an educated decision about the future. The Next Generation Club provides the support along this pathway and I would encourage aspiring golfers to join this Club.”
