Queenslander Daniel Nisbet has finished as runner-up at the Callaway World Junior Golf Championships after being beaten by a single stroke at Torrey Pines Golf Club. Nisbet shot rounds of 70, 75, 70 and 70 to finish three-under-par at 285 on the course which hosted this year s US Open. Canadian Eugene Wong won the boys tournament, shooting 75, 71, 70 and 68 to finish at four-under on 284. Nisbet s bogey on the 18th paved the way for the Canadian who completed consecutive birdies on the 17th and 18th to finish his round and claim the title. The only other Australian to make the cut was Victorian Bryden Macpherson with rounds of 80, 74, 73 and 73 to finish 12 over with a total score of 300. In the girls event, Western Australia s Whitney Hillier finished in 28th place with rounds of 76, 78, 75 and 77 to finish 18 over the card. The girls championship was held at Carlton Oaks Golf Club where Hillier won the recent San Diego Junior Masters.
