Australian James Nitties remains on track in his quest to earn a PGA Tour card next year after five rounds of the US PGA Tour&aposs final stage of qualifying tournament in La Quinta, California. Nitties had a bogey-free five-under-par 67 in his fifth round to move up to a tie for second place with Derek Fathauer. Harrison Frazar couldn&apost repeat his fourth round heroics – where he carded a remarkable 13-under 59 – but still leads the tournament after a three-under-par round kept him five shots clear of the pack. With the top 25 (plus ties) earning their place on the US PGA Tour next year, the other Australians in the field will need a big finish in Monday&aposs (US time) final round. Andrew Bonhomme did his chances no harm with one of the best rounds of the day – a seven-under-par 65 – to move up to a share of 50th place, just three shots behind 25th. Won Joon Lee and Jason Day also remain in the hunt, equal with Bonhomme at 11-under. Steve Allan is a further stroke back at 10-under, while Gavin Coles and Scott Gardiner are nine-under. Adam Bland and Andrew Buckle are both out of contention in 117th and 136th place respectively.
