Nordqvist Soars to the Top in Mobile

On another day of low scores it was Swede Anna Nordqvist who has taken the lead heading into the final round of the Airbus LPGA Classic presented by JTBC being played in Mobile, Alabama.

Nordqvist, who has already won this year, fired a bogey free round of six-under-par 66, which included four consecutive birdies from the 2nd to 5th, to lead the field at 16-under-par. For the third consecutive day, Nordqvist hit 17 out of 18 greens in regulation at the RTJ Golf Trail, Magnolia Grove, Crossings Course.

The major winner will take a slender one shot advantage over Scot Catriona Matthew, who posted a two-under-par 70. Rolex World No.2 soared into contention with a 66 to be outright third at 14-under. Americans Michelle Wie (66), Jessica Korda (69) and England’s young gun Charley Hull (71) share fourth at 13-under-par.

Depending on how the last round pans out Lewis could regain the World No.1 spot.

Queensland Katherine Kirk continues to move up the leaderboard. A third round of 68 has seen her move into a tie for 11th at 11-under. Her round included five birdies and one bogey. A low day tomorrow could see the in form Aussie move right into the top 10 and maybe top 5.

Karrie Webb (71) is tied for 42nd at five-under-par, while Lindsey Wright (70) is a further shot back in a tied for 53rd. Sarah Kemp was the only other Aussie in the field and she is at three-under after a 72 to be tied for 57th.
