North Adelaide GC PGA Teaching Pro’s appear on SA Sports Show

North Adelaide Golf Course PGA Teaching Professionals Simon MacWhirter and Gavin Fontaine appeared on Channel 44's SA Sports Show in December, to talk golf with hosts Phil Smyth and Robbie Popplestone.

Simon gained his PGA Coaching qualifications in the North of England in 1992 and is a now a Certified PGA Professional with Advanced status in coaching. He arrived in Adelaide in (2009)

Gavin gained his PGA Coaching qualifications in WA in 1990 and is also a Certified PGA Teaching Professional. Gavin has a diploma in sports psychology and is focused on the mental side of the game.  He is also accredited in teaching disabled golfers. Gavin arrived in Adelaide earlier this year (2016)

After his playing career Simon spent time coaching in Spain, Austria, Tampa and Orlando, while Gavin worked in Austria and Germany for 15 years.

Simon coordinates the Women’s Golf Program at North Adelaide including the Swing Fit program which is a (fun, healthy and social way) for 18-39year old women to get into golf.

Simon also coordinates the national Junior MyGolf program at North Adelaide proving coaching to 5-12 year olds.

Gavin, with his inclusive coaching accreditation will be starting an inclusive program in Feb 2017 for people with a disability and will be continuing as a MyGolf Coach – delivering school programs in 2017.

North Adelaide Golf Course – comprises 3 x 18 hole golf courses

  • South Course – championship length course with spectacular views of the City of Adelaide.
  • North Course – shorter length course for those new to the game or short on time
  • Par 3 on Torrens – perfect for beginners and youth.
