Northern Districts celebrate Mixed Pinehurst

Mixed Pinehurst Handicap winners (L-R): Joanne Daly, Ian Harslett, Deb Devlin, Katina Turner & Darian Dunkley Sunday June 12 saw the Northern District Golf SA Mixed Pinehurst played in memory of District Life Member Bernie Daly. Thirty two players played on a cool fine winter&aposs day, with clubs represented from as far afield as Gladstone, Port Broughton, Wirrabara, Northern District Juniors and Jamestown. Club President Deb McCarthy and District President Michael Krieger thanked all players who made the effort to attend and also welcomed Bernie&aposs widowed wife Joanne, who was invited to present the trophies. The Championship winner was Jamestown, represented by Deb McCarthy, Nathan Young, Mary Davis and Graeme Wells who carded 165, which was enough to hold off runners-up Wirrabara (166) represented by Peter and Acacia Curtis, Michael Lynch and Samantha Stevens. The Handicap winner was Gladstone, represented by Ian Harslett, Katina Turner, Darian Dunkley and Deb Devlin, who cared 132.5 net, which was half a point enough to hold off the Gladstone/Jamestown composite side of Kingsley Kotz, Di Phillips. David Hunt and Kerren Abbot (133). The Special General Meeting that was due to be held after play was canceled because not enough clubs represented to form a quorum.
