Nominee Name: Jake Stanton MYGolf Centre: Royal Queensland State: QLD Age: 14 Favourite golfer and why? Adam Scott because he comes to our clinics each year and takes time to teach us. Why should Jake be the November MYGolfer of the Month? Jake has been involved in Royal Queensland s Junior Development Program since he was eight and over the past six years has been steadily developing his skills. Earlier this year, Jake was involved in a serious school camp accident which resulted in hospitalisation with brain trauma. Unfortunately, the doctors advised Jake to refrain from playing contact sport. As a pick me up his parents bought him a brand new set of clubs and he is now focussed on golf! He is practising every day and last weekend played his first club competition as a junior member now that he has an official handicap. Although a tough outing given it was the first round of Royal Queensland s Summer Cup and played off the Black Tees, Jake had a net 81 and thoroughly enjoyed himself! According to the PGA Assistant Professionals at Royal Queensland Jake is attentive at clinics, keen to learn, very polite and always presents himself well. He is currently working tirelessly on his technique and practices extremely hard outside of the clinics. During his latest skills tests, Jake posted a score of 6/10 for driving and 7/10 for irons! Congratulations Jake!! Next month, we will be announcing which of our monthly winners has been awarded the 2012 MYGolfer of the Year. The lucky MYGolfer and a parent/guardian will be flown to Canberra for a VIP experience at the 2013 ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open!
