NSW boys march to victory

Final Results New South Wales has secured its third straight victory by winning the Australian Boys Interstate Teams Matches at Cabramatta Golf Club in Sydney s western suburbs. Needing only to avoid a 5-0 loss to the Australian Capital Territory to be crowned champions, the New South Welshmen defeated ACT 4 to this morning to successfully defend their title and finished one contest and six matches clear of Queensland in second. NSW players Dillon Perry (Long Reef) and Jarrod Freeman (Concord) were undefeated with their winning NSW team mates including Jake Higginbottom (The Australian), Ricky Kato (Bonnie Doon), Brayden Petersen (Monash) and Nathan Waters (Long Reef). NSW Team Manager Robert Scott said the boys were confident in their ability to win, but never underestimated the opposition. Queensland defeated Western Australia 3 to 1 to secure second place with Queensland s Sam Daley continuing his good form. WA s Oliver Goss recorded a 3&1 win over recently crowned Australian Boys Amateur champion Cameron Smith. South Australia held their overnight position to finish in third place despite losing 4-1 to Victoria in the final round. Victoria s Ben Eccles defeated former Australian Boys Amateur champion Anthony Murdaca while Sean Ong and Scott Fullarton also recorded comfortable wins for Victoria. Western Australia finished in fourth place following their loss to Queensland. Victoria finished in fifth place, level on contests with WA, but a match behind. Tasmania defeated the Northern Territory 3-2 to record their second contest win and finish sixth. The ACT and NT finished in seventh and eighth place respectively.
