NSW Government assists over 140 sporting organisations with grants

NSW Minister for Sport and Recreation, Graham Annesley, has announced 145 sporting grant recipients, including not-for-profit sports clubs and local councils, totalling $1.7 million as part of the NSW Government s Participation and Facility Grant Program. This program provides funding for local initiatives that encourage people to be more active on a regular basis, Mr Annesley said. Projects include the resurfacing of netball courts, installing floodlights at ovals and installing shade cloth at swimming pools to assist communities around the state get the most out of their local sport facilities. Participation in sport and recreation together with good facilities brings people closer together, as well as offering many health benefits. By assisting to fund the development of local sport facilities, the NSW Government is investing in the health and wellbeing of our local communities, Mr Annesley added. Applications for the next round of Participation and Facilities Program grants will open on 21 January 2013 and close 26 February 2013.
