The historic NSW Open Golf Championship will return to metropolitan Sydney for the first time since 2006 when the tournament is played at Castle Hill Country Club from 21-24 November 2013. The announcement of the dates for the NSW Open on the PGA Tour of Australasia schedule is further good news for the golf industry which has been buoyed by Adam Scott s Masters victory, a further four international victories in five weeks and the World Cup of golf being staged at Royal Melbourne. We are pleased to once again have the NSW Open featured on the PGA Tour of Australasia schedule, said Brian Thorburn, CEO of the PGA of Australia. We look forward to continue working with Golf NSW to ensure not only the success of the 2013 NSW Open but also look to secure its long term future. Golf NSW CEO Stuart Fraser said we have worked hard to return the NSW Open to Sydney and the golf course will present a real challenge for the players. Still one of the leading golf tournaments contested in Australia, the NSW Open will be held at one of Sydney s premier and picturesque tournament venues Castle Hill Country Club for the first time in the tournaments 82 year history. Located in the centre of Sydney s fast growing north west region, the area has seen not only many of Australia s largest companies establish their head offices in the large business parks that have grown, but has also gone hand in hand with the rapid expansion of surrounding residential areas. With an honour roll that reads like a who s who of golf, past champions include Kel Nagle, Peter Thomson, Greg Norman and Jack Newton while more recently Peter O Malley, Peter Lonard, Aaron Townsend and Adam Crawford have claimed the title. The NSW Open will be held from 21-24 November 2013, as the lead in tournament to the Emirates Australian Open at Royal Sydney Golf Club it is expected to lure some of the leading golf Professionals to compete for the famous trophy.
