NSW performs over the weekend

Golf NSW HP squad members have had a great week!

Aaron Baddeley International Junior Championship

Elizabeth Elmassian makes the Australian Team to compete in China at the 2014 Aaron Baddeley World Final in November.  Elizabeth won the Girls 18-years category in the 2014 Aaron Baddeley International Junior Championship (ABIJC) which took place at the Heritage Golf Club in Victoria.

Elizabeth was seven shots behind the lead after the first day. That night, she made a goal to shoot three under and go for all her shots no matter what the end result would be, believing that would get her over the edge to make the team.

She said, "I had nothing to lose after the first day being seven shots behind…On the second day I just played golf and gave myself every chance to get the ball in the hole in as little shots as possible. Finishing two under for the round and coming second overall allowed me to make the team to go to China."

Elizabeth finished her final round on 148, four shots ahead of Jenny Lee. Kirsty Hodgkins finished on 145 in her division (Girls 16-Years) to become the overall 2014 Girls Champion. Together with Kirsty, the pair fill the two spots for the girls on Team Australia and will head to China along with four of the leading boys.

Ryan Ruffel who finished on 139 was the 2014 Champion. Cameron Jones (141), Ben Furguson (144), Kyle Michel (145) and David Micheluzzi (145) qualified to make the boys' team.

NSW's Doey Choi had a great game finishing as the Girls 15-years runner up on 155.  WA took the 2014 State Teams Champion title.  For full results visit: http://www.abijc.com/page/tournaments/australia/australian-championship/results

Mona Vale Cup

In the Mona Vale Cup, Cameron Davis won the Mona Vale Medal on Sunday with a three under par round of 69.  The round included two eagles, one of them being a hole out on the 17th hole from the fairway.  He had just come back from a two-weeks' break in Vanuatu with his family which obviously paid off.

Most of the high performance players are now in Queensland for the Keperra Bowl and the Queensland Stroke Play and Amateur events which will take place over the next two weeks.

Illowra Cup

Jordan Zunic broke a new course record at the Illowra Cup on the weekend.  At nine under he broke Nick Flanagan's course record at the Port Kembla Golf Club. It is the perfect confidence builder for Jordan, who travels to China this week to represent Australia in the China Amateur.
