NSW Players to Watch in Australian Amateur

Women The Lakes member, Adrianna Brent was the highest placed NSW woman following the stroke play qualifying rounds of the Australian Amateur Championship. Adrianna followed up her first round 79 at Huntingdale with a great round of 70 at Woodlands GC yesterday to finish in third place, behind Medal Winner Breanna Elliott (Victoria). Other NSW players to watch in the match play section will be Australian Junior Champion Cathleen Santoso who qualified tied for 16th place. Unfortunately, two of our youngest entrants Michaela Sheetz and Elizabeth Elmassian finished one shot adrift of the qualifying score for the top 32 players. Men Matthew Wittenberg (Avondale) held his nerve after leading on day 1 to finish a creditable third place in the stroke play, and will join 15 other NSW players in the Australian Amateur match play field of 64. A far improved second round of 73 has also seen defending Champion Matthew Stieger (St Michael s) qualify in 57th position. A string of NSW juniors have also qualified, including 14 year old Kevin Yuan (Bankstown), Ricky Kato (Bonnie Doon) and Zac Stolz (Pymble). Others to qualify were: Ben Clementson (St Michael s), Andrew Thompson (Monash), John Yim (Carnarvon), Daniel Bringolf (The Australian), Josh Cabban (Concord), Reece Hodson (The Australian), Andrew Collins (Eden), Jake Higginbottom (The Australian), Jordan Zunic (Bonnie Doon), Daniel Buyers (Pymble), Luke Humphries (Pymble), Theodore Coroneo (The Lakes).
