NZ Seniors Continue Dominance Over Australia

The New Zealand Senior team has continued their recent dominance over Australia with another convincing win in the 2014 Sanctuary Cove Trophy played at Muriwai Golf Club, North West of Auckland. The Australian Team had nine of its twelve players being from NSW. Day 1 had seen Australia win the morning Foursomes comfortably 4.5 matches to 1.5 matches before New Zealand bounced back in the afternoon Fourball games with a total of 4 points to Australia&aposs 2. This gave the Aussie team a one point lead heading into the twelve individual matches to be played on the second day. It was in these all important individual matches that the strong Kiwi team showed their real ability with many of the team finishing under par on the demanding Muriwai course. At the end of the day it was a win to the New Zealand team by 9 individual matches to 3. This gave the New Zealand Senior team a total of 14.5 points and a 5 point victory over Australia with 9.5 points. The New Zealand team has now won the last three matches and has an overall lead of 5 wins to 3 in the eight years the event has been played. The next match between the two traditional rivals will be in Australia at the Sanctuary Cove Golf Club in 2015.
