Defending champion Lorena Ochoa has fired a final-round six-under-par 66 to win the Samsung World Championship by four shots. Ochoa, who sewed up Player of the Year honours with her seventh victory of the season, streaked clear of the field in another impressive display. The Mexican world number one began the day tied for the lead with Norway&aposs Suzann Pettersen but while her final round lifted her to 18 under, her nearest rival carded a level-par 72 to finish six shots back. “It was a really good day today. I&aposm proud of myself because I was patient even with the things that happened in the previous day,” Ochoa said. “Today was a great day right from the start. It was one of those days that you see things clear, and you feel a good rhythm and hitting good tee shots.” Mi Hyun Kim was second after a final round 69, while the week ended on a positive note for teenager Michelle Wie, who had been last of the 20-strong field for the first three days. She shot a 71 – only her second under-par round of the year – to finish 18 over, one shot ahead of last-placed Bettina Hauert who collapsed with a 76. Meanwhile, Joanne Mills finished on four-under for 14th in the Madrid Ladiest Masters, nine shots behind winner Martina Eberl. Anna Rawson was 25th on one-over.
