Ogilvy moves to fourth

Geoff Ogilvy has carded a four-under-par 67 to sit three shots off the pace after the second round of the Northern Trust Open in California. Ogilvy is in a tie for fourth at minus seven while American Scott McCarron is the outright leader after a second round 68 to take him to an overall score of 10 under. The Victorian picked up a birdie in the on the par five opening hole before really hitting his straps on the back nine where he reeled off three straight birdies on the 16th, 17th and 18th holes. Compatriot Robert Allenby is also in touch of the leaders after his own round of 67, moving him up to a share of 14th on five under after starting the day at equal 53rd. Stuart Appleby is a further two shots back after an improved round of 68 to follow on from his opening day score of 71. Aaron Baddeley just survived with a one-under-par 70, while fellow Australian Steve Elkington had a day head rather forget out on the Riviera Country Club course with a three-over-74 to miss the cut. Matthew Goggin (72), John Senden (72), Peter Lonard (73), Nick O Hearn (76), James Nitties (71) and Nathan Green (74) all failed to make the cut.
