Australia's Su Oh was already having a great day at the Swinging Skirts LPGA Championship in Taipei when she walked up the 18th fairway today; a holed-out wedge from 90 metres for eagle put the cream on the cake.
Oh, the 21-year-old from ended up firing a six-under par 66 to leap into contention as the LPGA Tour's Asian swing continues.
In difficult, wet conditions, the Golf Australia rookie squad member signed her card and was within a shot of the lead and with a chance to win her first-ever LPGA Tour event.
Oh is five-under par through two rounds, coming off her best finsih of the season, tied-fifth at the Women's New Zealand Open last week.
"It's been raining and windy so it feels like another day,'' she told the tournament broadcaster. "Okay, 'rain gear on and three-club wind, just try and keep it low'. It was easy … I was pretty lucky today as well. Things just went my way.''
Her playing partner, China's Shanshan Feng (who shot ) was under no such illusions about the difficulty of the conditions. "She's playing different conditions than what we did,'' said Feng.
