LIVE SCORING

Peter O’Malley, affectionately known as POM, leads the NSW Open into the weekend with a 10 under tally through 36 holes.

Originally from Bathurst in NSW and now residing in South Carolina, USA, Peter commented: “There’s a pretty good mix of the old guys and young talent, so hopefully I’ll be able to show them the ropes over the weekend.”

Late finisher Damon Welsford has moved into equal first after a round of 65 today, following his 67 from yesterday. He equals O'Malley's score of 10 under par after two rounds.

Visiting British amateur, Tom Lewis, has moved up the ranks to lie 6th overall after shooting 4 under par (67), one better than yesterday’s score.

After 2 days of perfect weather the immaculately prepared course at The Vintage is providing plenty of challenges. Accurate iron shots are essential and the increasing green speed and subtle nuances of the putting surfaces mean the players are finding it increasingly difficult to hole those clutch putts.

Tournament host Nathan Green, is delighted to finish the day at 2 under par 69 to be lying third overall, one shot off the lead and tied with Jordan Sherratt. Nathan had to scramble a few times today but is satisfied with the outcome and looking forward to the weekend.

First day leader, South Australian Peter Cooke who shot a course record 61, had a second round of 73 – this was still good enough to leave him fifth overall. “I played some good shots today but didn’t get the same breaks as yesterday. I came good on the back nine though and I’m pretty happy as I could be in a lot worse position!”

The leading players who make the cut tonight will be paired with amateur playing partners to contest the Team Challenge Pro Am which is the unique format used on the PGA Tour of Australasia.

The forecast for the next 2 days is variable, with some rain expected on Sunday. Admission to The Vintage is completely free, visitors are welcome and anyone who attends The Open at The Vintage in the Hunter Valley has an opportunity to win some great prizes just by being there between 25th to 28th November.
