CLICK HERE FOR FULL GALLERY National Squad members Cameron Smith, Lucas Herbert and former Australian representative Grace Lennon joined GA High Performance Director Brad James and members of the Golf Society of Australia for the Hickory Challenge – a three hole skins match to kick off Australian Amateur week at Commonwealth Golf Club in Melbourne. Playing the first, second and 18th holes, the players wore period clothing and used hickory clubs. Cameron Smith, the medalist for the last two years at the Australian Amateur, said it was very different to anything he&aposd used before. “It&aposs just the weight difference more than anything,” Smith said. “It feels so much lighter all through the club.” Grace Lennon wore a traditional women&aposs shirt and jacket with a full length skirt and found the clothing a challenge in the summer sun. “I certainly wouldn&apost want to be playing the first round of Australian Amateur qualifying in this,” Lennon said. “It&aposs really warm in these layers.” For the record, Lennon won the skins match.
