Ormsby claims top-10 berth

Australian journeyman Wade Ormsby has secured just his second top-10 finish for the year at the Nationwide Tour&aposs Boise Open in Idaho. The Adelaide-born 28-year-old, in his rookie season on the PGA&aposs secondary tour, fired a final-round 70 to finish in a seven-way tie for sixth place on 12-under behind runaway winner Chris Tidland. The American capped off a brilliant four days with a closing seven-under-par 64 to finish at 20-under for the tournament, four strokes clear of compatriot Scott Piercy, who rocketed up the leaderboard on the final day with a 10-under 61. England&aposs Greg Owen (65) was third at 15-under, while Americans Peter Tomasulo (66) and Matt Bettencourt (68) were fourth and fifth respectively. For Ormsby, who was ranked 110th on the money list prior to the tournament, this was his most consistent event for the year after shooting rounds of 67, 67 and 68 to go with his final-round 70. His previous best finish on the Nationwide Tour was equal 10th at the Moonah Classic in Victoria earlier this year. He was tied for sixth alongside Americans Clay Ogden, Tag Ridings, Spencer Levin, Michael Putnam, Hunter Haas and overnight leader Bill Lunde. Of the other Australians to make the cut, Greg Chalmers – who is fourth on the money list after one victory and nine top-10 finishes so far this year – was tied for 22nd on eight-under while Kurt Barnes was a stroke further back at seven-under in a share of 26th place. Andrew Buckle, Scott Gardiner and Kiwi Bradley Iles were tied for 42nd at four-under, while Jarrod Lyle carded a disastrous five-over 76 in the last round to finish 64th of the 65 players to make the cut.
