Palm Beach Golf Club have won their Club’s maiden Metropolitan Major Pennant in a thriller against Asquith Golf Club today.
The result of the match came down to a nail-biting 23rd hole win by the Peninsula Club’s youngest player, 15-year-old Jackson Upton.
Team Manager and proud dad Mark Upton was ecstatic with the win.
“It was a great game. He was five up after nine; then the other guy came back, then five playoff holes. I’m very proud of him,” Upton said.
“It's our club’s first pennant. It’s unbelievable; we’re rapt."
The celebrations are expected to go into the night back at the club.
“We are all booked in for a few drinks, except for Jackson who’s not allowed,” he laughed.
“All the boys have played well; not one individual has stood out. They're a good bunch of guys."
“They’ve played together since juniors. It's a great result all round,” he smiled.
