Australian Rodney Pampling faded to finish tied for third, two shots behind winner KJ Choi, who set up his Memorial tournament victory in Ohio with an impressive front nine holes on the final round. Pampling, the overnight leader, shot four bogies on his way to an even-par 72, finishing the tournament on 15-under. He was the best placed of four Australians in the top 10, one shot ahead of Adam Scott, who finished in a four-way tie for fifth position, while Geoff Ogilvy and Aaron Baddeley shared ninth place after carding rounds of 70 and 71 respectively to finish on 12-under. Choi, who started the fourth round five strokes off the pace, picked up six birdies on the front nine to charge to the front in ideal conditions at Muirfield Village. He struggled a little on the back nine, but did enough to hang on, one-putting the final three holes to post a seven-under-par 65. Choi finished on 17-under 271, one stroke ahead of former United States amateur champion Ryan Moore (66). It is the fifth PGA Tour victory for 37-year-old Choi, who came into the tournament with a series of solid performances under his belt recently. Paul Casey was the best-placed Briton, finishing with a round of 72 for a five-under total, while fellow Englishman Luke Donald was a shot behind after a final round 70.
