Panos surges into top 10

Perth’s Jayde Panos stands on the brink of a career-best finish in the Symetra Tour Championship in waterlogged Florida.

While there are groups yet to complete the second round in an already rain-shortened finale to the season, Panos will get a slight sleep-in knowing she’s sitting T8 after rounds of 71-70 left her three under.

While the leader, American Rachel Rohanna, is at nine under, the others ahead of Panos are mostly within reach of a good round and any improvement in her placing will render the result her best on the secondary tour, beating her T8 from May last year at the WB Mason Championship.

Her fellow West Australian, the prolific Hannah Green, is again near the pointy end of the field, T14 after rounds of 71-72 as she chases what would be her 12th top-10 finish of a remarkably rookie professional season.

Other Aussies Emily McLennan (+2), Steph Na (+2) and Rebecca Artis (+3) are all in a position to take home a big cheque in tomorrow’s final round, too.
