Hye Park has continued her remarkable domination of Australian golf, taking out the Katherine Kirk Classic at Maroochy River Golf Club.
Park, 16, punched her fourth national rankings win on the Sunshine Coast today, with her illustrious resume also including the most recent editions of the Australian Junior, QLD and NSW junior.
The RACV Royal Pines product edged a two shot win over defending champion Minji Kweon, for a five-under-par total of 211.
Kweon’s opening blemish free five under 67 set up for a promising title defence, producing a second round two-under-par 70 to take a one shot buffer at six under over Seunghui Bong heading into the final round.
But as the Sanctuary Cove member struggled to find her fine form closing with a four over 76 to finish at five-under-par, Park maintained her steady momentum to finish even par for the day and seal the win.
2017 champion Cassie Porter finished five shots back from Park at even par for outright third, while fellow Queensland junior team member, Lion Higo, finished a further three strokes back.
In the 21 years & under division, Rhianna Lewis of Pelican Waters claimed back-to-back titles with rounds of 73-70-76, 17 shots ahead of Tara Jenkins in second place.
Royal Queensland’s Mia Lines secured the 15 years & under championship with a brilliant birdie on the 18th for a 54-hole total of 230 (79-73-78), two shots clear of Grace Byeon of Sanctuary Cove.
