Pascoe and Lavender Win Hepburn Springs Senior Amateur

The 2019 Hepburn Springs Senior Amateur wrapped up today as the overnight leaders Helen Pascoe and James Lavender again played well to win the Women’s Scratch Stableford and Men’s Gross sections respectively. Morning rain made for tougher conditions than round one however this did not stop a number of impressive rounds being played.

James Lavender’s round of 70 was enough to win the Men’s Gross section with a total score of 137, three over par for the tournament. Colin George made a second round run at the title with a 65 and the only under par round for the tournament. He finished two shots behind on 139 after being seven shots behind overnight. Third place was a tie between Ken O’Brien and Ian McCleary on 143.

In the Women’s Scratch Stableford Helen Pascoe won yet again beating out local Bev Smith. Pascoe put together consistent rounds of 30 and 28 points to finish nine points clear on top. Bev Smith held on to second place from round one finishing on 49 points. In third place on 48 points were Heather Harley and Sandra Collingwood.

John Hoare and Ignatius Duivenvoorden both returned very impressive second round scores of 60 in the Men’s Nett section however it was Hoare who came out on top. His first round score of 67 was enough to see him finish one shot clear and five under par for the tournament. Duivenvoorden finished in second place on 128. In third place was local Andrew Guiney, two shots behind the leader on 129.

The Women’s Stableford was won by Vera Lund who scored 31 point to move into first with a total of 67. Overnight leader Mary Davis scored 27 points to finish in second place, one point behind Lund. Locked in a tie for third as they were after the first round were Lee-Anne Day and Roslyn Black on 63 points.
