More than 72 young children will play the course the pros will play when Pee Wee Pennants come to The Brisbane Golf Club on Sunday, 16 October ahead of the Isuzu Queensland Open.
Pee Wee Pennants involves teams of six players representing their clubs with the playing format being a two-person ambrose over a modified nine-hole course.
It is club vs club in this hotly contested battle with players coming from 12 clubs from all over Brisbane.
Golf Queensland’s Participation Development Manager, Adrian Hewat hopes the competitors will draw inspiration from playing on the course where the Isuzu Queensland Open will take place later in the week.
“It will be an exciting day. We are privileged and honoured for the first Pee Wee Pennant of the season to be played at the host club for the Isuzu Queensland Open, “ Mr Hewat said.
“Children will be able to see all the preparations underway for the Open and will hopefully wonder what their golfing future might hold.”
Pee Wee Pennants has been such a success amongst the golfing community with 12 Brisbane based clubs participating, ensuring their juniors have the opportunity to play in the tournament.
“It’s been a fantastic response from clubs, kids and families to Pee Wee Pennants. It just keeps growing year by year,” Mr Hewat said.
“The kids get to explore new courses, represent their club and meet new friends. Everyone has the opportunity to play, develop their skills and learn more about the game.”
Pee Wee Pennants commences with registration at 1.00pm and tee-off at 2.00pm on Sunday, 16 October at The Brisbane Golf Club, Tennyson Memorial Avenue, Yeerongpilly.
The Isuzu Queensland Open is on October 20 -23 at Brisbane Golf Club, Yeerongpilly. Entry is free for spectators. For more information visit www.qldopen.com.au
