Peirce and Hayter win first Golf SA Junior Open of summer

Kyle Hayter from Kooyonga Golf Club and Caitlin Peirce from The Vines Golf Club have taken out the first girls & boys Junior Open, the first of five Junior Summer events.

Players faced warm conditions throughout the competition with the first 18 holes at Flagstaff Hill Golf Club and final round at The Vines Golf Club of Reynella.

Peirce who claimed the nett event at last year’s first Junior Open, claimed the girls open with rounds of 89-80 (169), 4 strokes ahead of runner up Shakira-ann Kuys (Port Augusta) who had rounds of 94 & 79 (173).

Amy West (HCap 27) from Mount Osmond GC claimed the nett event with net scores of 80, 76 (156).

In the Boy’s Junior Open, Hayter claimed the title after shooting a tournament low 1-under 71 in the opening round at Flagstaff Hill GC before finishing with 76 at The Vines, for a combined total of 147 to win by four strokes ahead of Port Augusta’s Marcus Kuys 76 & 75 (151).

Fishing third 77,76 (153) and scoring a hole-in-one on the par-3 10th hole at The Vines was Jack Buchanan from Glenelg.

Alex Manton (HCap 20) from The Vines GC with a net total of 142 won the net aggregate event.
