PENNANT – Simpson Cup Rd 6 / Women’s A1 Rd 4

Glenelg Women&aposs A1 Pennant Player – Elysia Yap in action Metropolitan Pennant – Simpson Cup Round 6 summary Tea Tree Gully remains top of the Simpson Cup table after defeating Highercombe 5 – 2 after the penultimate round of Men’stop grade Pennant at Kooyonga Golf Club. Tea Tree Gully s bottom five players, namely Zak Fuller, Brett Crosby, Ryan White, Paul Wyllie and Rudi DuPlooy all had solid wins to give TTG an unassailable lead. Greg Blewett s unbeaten run at number two was ended by Ben Hallam 1down while Mark Deacon s unbeaten season continues after he accounted for Chris Austin 5&4. Austin has dropped his past three matches and the two time State Champion would be keen to recapture form heading into the business end of the season. The Grange backed up last week s 6.5 – 0.5 victory over Royal Adelaide with a comprehensive win against Blackwood 7 – 0. Chris Brown continued his outstanding form at first position, proving too strong for Ben Leske 5&4. Brown, who has won all five matches since missing round one, should face Chris Austin in a pivotal final round battle. On its home track, Kooyonga had a relatively trouble free encounter with Flagstaff Hill proving too strong 4.5 – 2.5. Bishop, Somerfield, D.Speirs and Shaw all had comfortable wins while Geoff Brennan squared his match with David Hiern. By squaring its match with Glenelg, Royal Adelaide has moved up one place on the ladder to 5th position. With both teams playing for pride, three matches ended square, with Anthony Olsen and Mitchell Nash scoring wins for Glenelg while Matt Overall and Matt Butler took the points for RAGC. In a huge final round, Grange face Tea Tree Gully with the winner guaranteed a finals berth. A squared match would see both teams through if Glenelg upsets Kooyonga in the other pivotal contest of the round. Kooyonga solid all season simply requires a victory or squared match to progress to the Simpson Cup Final. In other matches, Flagsataff Hill and Royal Adelaide square off with the winner finishing the season in 4th position and Highercombe play Blackwood where victory to Highercombe could see them finishing as high as fifth on the ladder. Metropolitan Pennant – Women’s A1 Round 4 summary Glenelg remain undefeated after four rounds of the 2012 Women&aposs A1 Pennant Competition after narrowly defeating The Golf SA Fringe side 3 – 2. Sophie James, Elysia Yap and Christine Beasley, all had comfortable wins for Glenelg while for The Fringe side Rachel Taylor and Emma Ash proved too strong for Amy Zhou and Jenny Lee, 2up and 3&2 respectively. Glenelg are now guaranteed a place in the final. Royal Adelaide had a hard fought win over The Grange 3-2 keeping its title hopes alive. Bleeze, Sykes and Morrison all claimed important wins for Royal Adelaide while Kristalle Blum and Louise Glennon overcame their opponents. In the final match of round four, Kooyonga had a strong win over Blackwood 3.5 – 1.5 with Ann Vanstone, Cara Guest and Jodie Deacon all recording wins. In an intriguing final round of matches, either one of The Grange, Royal Adelaide or Kooyonga could claim the coveted 2nd ladder position to progress through to the final against Glenelg.
