Veteran Victorian Cameron Percy is the best-placed of the Australians in the field at the Fedex St Jude Championship on the PGA Tour of the United States through two rounds.

Percy, 42, who has made five cuts in eight previous starts this year with just one top-15 finish, fired a second-round 67 at TPC Southwind in Memphis.

He is tied-sixth at four-under overall, five from the lead held by Daniel Berger of the US. Matt Jones and Stuart Appleby are tied-35th while Steven Bowditch is tied-47th.

The last of Percy's six professional wins came on the Web.com Tour in 2014.

Robert Allenby, Rod Pampling, Cameron Smith missed the cut.

The St Jude Classic is the last lead-up tournament to next week's US Open at Oakmont.
