The web.com Tour is in North Carolina this week for the inaugural staging of the Chiquita Classic the 5th to last event of the 2012 season. The event is being played at the Jack Nicklaus designed Club at Longview in Charlotte with the tournament to become part of the Web.com s PGA Tour s qualifying events in 2013. With just four tournament remaining before the season ending Tour Championship is played, the race is on for a place in the top 60 to make it to Dallas for that event but the focus is also on the leading 25 who at season s end who will earn their way to the PGA Tour next year. There is understandably a large Australasian contingent in this week s field therefore. Scott Gardiner, who at number 12 on the money list is assured of PGA Tour status next year, has taken this week off to recharge the batteries heading into the last four events of the season but Cameron Percy who leads the Australasians on the Web.com Tour this season is in the field. Steve Alker, Steve Allan, Steve Bowditch, Nick Flanagan, Josh Geary, Mathew Goggin, Bronson La Cassie, Danny Lee, Peter Lonard, James Nitties, Nick O Hern, Alistair Presnell, Aaron Price, Grant Waite and Tim Wilkinson will join Percy in the event.
