Australian Cameron Percy shot a blistering 65 to take a share of the lead after the opening round of the Puerto Rico Open on Thursday. Percy carded nine birdies and two bogeys to join Argentina&aposs Andres Romero on top of the leaderboard at seven under. Romero, who started on the back nine, was nine under before posting bogeys on the seventh and eighth holes at the Trump International Golf Club in Rio Grande. Percy is aiming for his maiden PGA title, while Romero is chasing his first win since the Zurich Classic of New Orleans in 2008. American Blayne Barber sits third at six under, alongside countryman Jon Curran, one stroke ahead of a group of nine players including Angel Cabrera of Argentina. Canada&aposs Brad Fritsch joined Cabrera in equal fifth alongside Americans Bill Lunde, Steve LeBrun, Justin Bolli, Morgan Hoffmann, Brian Stuard and Peter Uihlein, as well as Puerto Rican Rafael Campos. Nick O&aposHern was the next best Australian with a 69 leaving him tied for 28th. Fellow Aussie Matt Jones took a share of 64th at one under, while Robert Allenby, Scott Gardiner and Rod Pampling were equal 80th following rounds of 72.
