Perfect conditions for Beveridge

The second round of the 2009 Australian Men&aposs Mid Amateur Championship saw perfect conditions for scoring on the Greg Norman designed Moonah Course, with a large bunch of contenders ready to grab the title on day 3. Wednesday&aposs play commenced with on the Greg Norman-designed Moonah course in calm conditions perfect for scoring. Overnight leader Kym Olsen (Vic) shot a round of 76 to accompany his first round of 70, but is unlikely to play in the final round due to an injury that flared late in the round. John Beveridge (Vic) played consistent golf to shoot a one under par round of 71 to be joint leader on even par with Peter Woodward (Vic) who has fired two even par rounds to date. Kim Johnson (NZ) fired a 2 under par round of 70 around the long Moonah layout to move into tie for third with the National golf club member Jarrod Schulz (Vic). Also tied for third is defending champion Jason Perry (Vic) who will have the benefit of being in a similar position last year in his come from behind victory. Round of the day belonged too Lloyd Fisher (USA) who shot a 3 under par 69 to move up into contention. The final round of the 2009 Australian Men&aposs Mid Amateur Championship will be played on the Peter Thomson designed Ocean course. A challenging day is expected with strong winds predicted, with stiff competition as the players striVe to be crowned the 2009 Champion. This year&aposs champion will gain a full exemption to the 2009 Men&aposs Australian Open at New South Wales Golf Club.
